and then we would have to consider our two admin men who put in thirty hours each a week that would be another £600

You quite clearly stated the above and you have the audacity to move the goalposts and suggest that I am wrong!

I think you need to look at your staffing levels and work practices. 5 hours to brush a ring and clean the toilets?

It was merely an observation on my part that your username had changed from BOXCAR to boxcar710. If you were the original poster (BOXCAR) why did you not make your most recent post under the original username?

That makes me think that you are not the same person - that's all.

As for the 'absolute nonsense' I post on this forum, that is a matter of opinion and you are entitled to yours. At least I have the courage in my convictions to post my name and my club.

I have no doubt that you - and hundreds like you - put in the hours at your respective clubs. What I do doubt is that you cannot - or will not - accept the fact that a coaches federation is not about being paid. If you are indeed a coach (and before you start, you have made reference only to the hours of fundraising, cleaning etc. you do and not to any coaching), read the back of your coaches card and take in what it says.

Yes, I did state that it would be nice to be paid. Are you honestly saying that it would not like to be paid for something you obviously love doing? I am not asking for a wage or payment for what I do - unlike many other leeches within the sport - and I don't expect I will ever be paid for being a coach in an amateur club. But that is not the issue here. The real issue is that, for some reason, the fact that a group of like-minded coaches want to get together and develop their skills is causing real consternation amongst certain people on this forum and within the sport in genral.

I have nothing to hide - or protect - it is apparent that some do!

Hi all ....
Even though this topic is a few years old now , I'd just like to say a few things on the matter .... First of all, a big thanks to the coaches that helped me achieve my junior ABA title in 1992. Without volunters like the late Ralph Stanton and Mark Matthews, no boxer would be able to continue training at any level. Im not joining in this debate to say anyone is right or wrong just to point out some facts : The subs paid by boxers back then were 20 pence (40-50 pence roughly in now money value) this wouldn't of covered hardly any of the running costs of the youth club , kit , petrol to get to bouts up and down the country- seeing as our club at the time had less than 20 boxers/members . The bulk of the funds comes from home Shows (one or two a year) and good old fashioned fund raising , raffles ect ...
Even though subs were cheap, if they had been higher i would not have been able to continue as my family had next to no money and in turn i wouldn't of had the great opportunity to stay boxing ,and more importantly staying out of trouble and off the estate .I think it is important for coaches, trainers and staff from different UK clubs to share situations with each other to better understand their roles and troubles faced ... I would like to thank all the voluntary staff again - without you the sport wouldn't be here ....
