Thank-you Canvas back!!!!
I see you are still prattling on in ignorance so please educate yourself by looking at the other forum topic on Diabetes.
I am not the person instigating a ban on diabetics boxing. I do not even have any power at the AIBA In England I have listened to and acted on all advice I have had from the specialists who know about Diabetes. They will get the rules changed if appropriate.
At the AIBA I did NOT intervene to stop diabetics boxing.
Paul King does not need to take the flak and he is not responsible for medical decisions.
I am happy to face legitimate flak and as I was just one member of the AIBA Medical Commission perhaps you, Larks and Jasper had better get your facts correct or, as Prattler pointed out elsewhere, there may be an un-winnable court case and I agree with him that I do not want my taxes paid to fund legal aid for it. You can keep shovelling but my head will remain above the top.

The weakness in your argument Invicta is your suggestion that a parent should consider the potential damage caused to the eye whilst ignoring the fact that getting hit in the head is seen by many as being bad for you as well!

I don't seem to be able to make the "New Topic" function work so I hope you don't mind me asking my question here. I am doing a work placement in a seriously remote part of County Durham, and I was wondering if you could tell me which club is my closest to save me having to call every boxing club in the North East! I live in Forest in Teesdale, the postcode is DL12 0HA if thats any help.

If none are close enough, is it ossible to arrange private lessons to justify a longer journey once a week or so?

***** Forum Admin Please Note - 'New Topic' does not work *****

First congrats to everyone involved in the Engalnd performance at the World's.

Secondly. Can anyone tell me if the Boxing Tutor course materials are avaliable (i.e. boxing award booklets etc.). I took the Boxing Tutor award in June, passed a red cross first aid certificate and have been crb checked. I am currently assisting at a local ABC and would like to do more to promote amatuer boxing. I have emailed Q Shillingford and left a message on his voice mail, but unfortunately no reply.

Any help would be appreciated.

i note the questions and often the comments in the ABA forum similaar to those in "my" forum

namely BWA (now Ltd)...amateur wrestling and as you all know....the REAL sport of wrestling as in the Olympics etc.

a sort of question....since my time (the 40')as a schoolboy boxer there has developed Judo which has effected the backward looking Wrestling Association...has allowed our numbers to drop to virtually a dot on the horizon...this nearly happened to Boxing due to similar attitudes
....a long memory I have.

there were 26 (real) wrestling Clubs in london in the 60's there are now 2 part time clubs !!!!

Karate and Martial Arts have developed, which must have 'sucked' youngsters from amateur Boxing.

also...schools State and Public, have stopped Boxing and the Army and the Police have stopped Wrestling.

the importance of Boxing in the Public Schools which should not have been allowed to die out was that thos that influenced things in those days (and now ?) Boxed and became in later life defenders of the sport.

numbers are down and Clubs i suspect will have an ever increasing membership of transiant East
Europians....in the case of Wrestling... of a higher standard.

the future Economics of "our" sports are surely to posess joint premises especially with the Olympics on the way.

a running track...even used for Footy,Rugger and Athletics still takes acres of land.

a Hall will accommodate Boxing,Wrestling Weightlifting Judo (approximate Judo membership in uk over 200,000....('taken' from boxing and wrestling...) and all are Olympic Sports at that....

...plus those that dream of becoming Bruce Lee;
they would in anycase subscribe substantially to the financial upkeep...and be maybe even convert to the real sport of Boxing if it's accessible ?

the writer in his dotage has been national champion in light & welter and an international in 2 different countries....more importantly,he has seen that the economics of the above project works...as indeed does the Sporting improvement in standard.

signed salto.

In juries 'ain't' no fun and those that lead to long term effects often tragic, even less so.

and anyone out of "offices" in Lincoln's Inn
will attest to evr increasing nimbers of Sad cases...not however increasing from Boxing !

Has any one recently watched a Rugger match of High standard....above all Rugby League which in the old days was described as between Sport & War.

A Congressional (U.S) hearing is investigating recent Deaths in the Pro Wrestling show above all
in the WWE.....give Boxing a chance or ban the Lot....p.s lifelong Tiddly Winks players....yes i'm serious....suffer terribly painfull arthritice...from damaged nerve ends,in the Thumb and it ain't a joke.

but then more people get hurt in the Army than in a Ring...ban which one first ?

Hi Salto,
You have entered the forum cos your posts are everywhere therefore you have pressed the right buttons.
The reason you cant see any replies was because no one could be bothered to reply until I thought someone had better put you out of your agony.
If the readers are not interested they do not reply simple as that.
There was nothing in any of your entries that needed reply.
All you did was screw up the topic headings with something not relevant

Yes Prattler you have put me out of my misery

unfortunately my eyesight is not what it used to be...to many knocks over 30 years, possibly? anyway i need help typing...keeping Brail away for a few years hopefully.

this "shot at it" inspired by you, might be a little neater.

as to irrelevant comments I make to the sport of Boxing ?

1st comment...the sport's falling numbers and virtually NIL exposure on T.V and the press and a possible solution....as an aside, with olympic places NOT assured for London.

2nd comment...the U.S senate looking into deaths
in professional (show) wrestling attributed to blows on the head....They Say...

blows to the head...nothing to do with boxing of course but boxing should keep an eye on the outcome in order to defend itself as a sport.
the shadow of Edith Summerskill is still waiting to pounce and we know that when the U.S sneezes the U.K catches a cold !

3rd comment..stupid i know but just an idea that clubs in similar Olympic disciplines constrained by finances...might find it beneficial to
actually jointly own their own premises.

4th comment seemingly of little interest was a point about Boxing in Schools.those a little older might remember the good that was just beginning to show when Lord Moynihan a welsh schoolboy champion, was for a brief period,
Minister for Sport.

I note from other contributors to Forum...that all in Boxing is going well and that all are happy with the way matters stand...it seems that there is litigationin the offing refering to one contributor

notwithstanding...with GREAT grandchildren arriving, i sign off wishing you Prattler and all in sport a super 2008.
